Homestays provide the full cultural experience of living with the local population with carefully selected warm and welcoming hosts, in safe neighborhoods, near public transportation.
International students or visitors who need lodging for a short period of time (1 week to 12 months) will be pleased with our friendly and outstanding service at Sara's Homestay.
You will have a clean private room in a home of a welcoming family or individual who you communicate with on a regular basis. Our hosts provide not just lodging but also understand the problems of being far away from home in a strange but exciting city and are very supportive. They are dedicated to make your stay a truly enjoyable and enriching experience.
All our hosts are very carefully selected with respect to safety of neighborhoods, proximity to public transportation and welcoming ability. Through our homestay program, lifetime friendships are being created all the time resulting in a greater mutual understanding and awareness of each others culture.
SHARED APARTMENTS are offered in:

Shared Apartments otherwise referred to as Bed and Breakfast, House Share, Apartment Share or Flat Share is for guests who value privacy and independence but welcome the presence of other people in the household. It is similar to having a roommate except the apartment is not really part owned by you. Shared Apartments are available for short stays of minimum 1 week and maximum 1 year, and you do not have to sign a lease.
This type of accommodation is designed for mature students, interns and visitors who prefer a more independent environment. You will have a clean private bedroom in the apartment of a host and share only the kitchen and bathroom. In some cases, the host does not reside at the apartment but there are other guest(s) staying in additional bedrooms in the same apartment. There would be limited interaction with the host of the premises - (as they might not even reside in the said residence).
So if you desire privacy and independence then this is the type of accommodation for you. Our own criteria for selecting shared apartments are proximity to public transportation, cleanliness and maintenance or the apartment and safety of neighborhoods.
HOMESTAYS vs SHARED APARTMENTS. What is the difference?
The difference between a Homestay and a Shared Apartment is the level of interaction!
In a Homestay the guest interacts with the host a lot. In a Shared Apartment there is little interaction after the first meeting.
HOMESTAYS and SHARED APARTMENT options:
We offer 3 categories of accommodation for both our homestays and shared apartments.
The Executive choice is the most prestigious. This option offers a central location and/or may include amenities such as a doorman luxury building, full-time superintendent, and most likely a private bathroom.
Our Premium or Superior option ensures that you have quick access to the heart of the city. The home is tastefully furnished and may offer a private bathroom.
The Standard homestay or shared apartment guarantees a private bedroom in a safe neighborhood with easy access to public transportation.
All three categories include a self-served light breakfast. With each of three categories, you can select either a single or a double room.
A single room means only the guest will be in that private bedroom. There is no one else in the bedroom with the guest.
A double room is an option available for two guests that are traveling together and want to be in the same bedroom. Typically, a double room has one double or queen-sized bed for the guests to sleep together. Only two guests who know each other can choose a double room.
FURNISHED APARTMENTS are offered in:

Sara's Homestay has carefully selected for you a number of attractive private studios, 1, 2 or 3 bedroom apartments in all areas of New York City as well as in Paris and Rome. They are not shared with others.
These apartments are ideal for business travel, training, relocation, tourism and other temporary needs. All are fully furnished apartments and most include all utilities such as gas, electricity, heat, water and even internet. Many have quite luxurious features (doorman, air conditioning, laundry and gym facilities) and are located in the trendiest neighborhoods. Others are a bit more modest and are priced a bit more attractively. Most can sleep two or three people. Some will sleep five to six people.
RESIDENCE HALL is available in the summer in:
New York
We offer residence hall rooms in the summer in New York City. The residence is located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan on 85th Street and Broadway, very close to Central Park, Lincoln Center, restaurants and famous shops with the best New York has to offer.
This dormitory setting is perfect for guests who are doing summer programs in dance, the dramatic arts, filmmaking, internships and English and a Second Language courses.
We offer single and double rooms that are air-conditioned and which include bed(s), refrigerator, sink, mirror, closet, desk and chair. The building has 24hr security, laundry and kitchen facilities, a lounge area with cable television and computer stations connected to high speed internet. There are also multiple bathrooms with showers available on each floor where only one guest can use the bathroom at a time.
The Residence hall is currently available from the middle of June to the middle of September each year and in New York only. We are aiming to expand this to a year-round service.
