Boston might be a mid-sized city to some but it has always been known as the “Hub of the Universe.” Boston is home to the country’s first public school, Boston Latin, and no single element has influenced the city as profoundly as its educational institutes which have been attracting students from around the world for years.
Our Boston location includes not only Boston proper but many other cities on the outskirts such as Cambridge, Somerville, Dorchester, Charlestown and Brookline. These various locations give students the ability to not only come here to study but also take advantage of the many sites Boston has to offer.
Boston is also a magnet for history buffs, so when in Boston, you must start with the Freedom Trail. The Freedom Trail is America’s first historic walking tour telling the story of the American Revolution. The Freedom Trail is a 2.5 mile path marked by a red painted or red brick line on the sidewalk linking to sixteen historic landmarks throughout the city. On the Freedom Trail you will find sites like the Paul Revere house, Copp’s Hill Burial Grounds, the USS Constitution, the Bunker Hill Monument and the Old North Church. The Old North Church was built in 1723 and is the oldest standing church in Boston. It became famous in 1775 when lanterns where hung on its tower signaling to Paul Revere that the British were coming which ignited the American Revolution.
Charlestown is located across the bridge on a peninsula north of Boston proper. The Charlestown Navy yard was one of the country’s first shipyards and is the home to the USS Constitution or “Old Ironsides.” The USS Constitution was built in Boston, named by President George Washington and is the oldest commissioned naval vessel in the world. The Freedom Trail ends in Charlestown at the Bunker Hill Monument. A 221 foot granite obelisk marks the site with 284 steps that lead to the pinnacle. The monument was built to commemorate the Battle of Bunker Hill and is the site of the first major battle of the American Revolution in 1775.
Harvard Square in Cambridge is across the Charles River and is best known as the home to Harvard University which has been attracting students and scholars for centuries. Harvard Square is a large triangular area known for its cultural diversity consisting of a medley of different attractions like stores, various street performers, art galleries and over 90 restaurants to satisfy every cultural palate and budget.
